If you’ve been feeling a bit peculiar since Saturday – no, you’re not nuts. Something has been going on in the heavens. We’ve all felt a shift.
Venus stopped being in retrograde on the 29th of January and Mercury will be following her footsteps on the 3rd of February.
Although there’s the popular assumption that retrogrades are bad, they’re not entirely. They’re basically moments in time in which the collective has been given a chance to reflect on patterns that no longer serves them.
That’s why, once retrogrades are over, we enter an odd moment of transition.
What is a retrograde, anyway?
In astrology, retrogrades are when a planet we see from Earth seems to be going backwards in its orbit.
The planets don’t actually go backwards, its simply an optical illusion due to the Earth rotative speed.
However, astrologists centuries ago noticed that such a movement had an effect on the collective and that the energies at work were “odd” and confusing.
So, retrogrades have a profound effect on the planet it affects.
That’s why social networks glitch and your ex texts you in Mercury retrograde. Mercury, planet of communication, information and expression, effects the way we associate with each other and the way we receive information.
It’s also why it’s the most obvious retrograde there is because its effects are just rather obvious.
Once we’re out of retrograde (when the planet goes forward instead of backward), we feel like things are back to normal but somehow clearer.
How has Venus retrograde affected me?
Whilst Mercury goes in retrograde three times a year, Venus only goes in retrograde every 18 months.
Venus represents our relationships, our way of expressing and understanding love, attraction, beauty and harmony.
Venus has been in retrograde from the 19th of December until the 29th of January.
It has allowed us the time to reflect on what we want in our relationships, which ones we want to keep and let go, how we understand love and what we truly value.
We are now stepping into a stage of understanding what we’ve learnt, whcih may be a struggle as we might deny integrating this change into our daily lives.
We’ve reflected on what we want and don’t want, now it is a question of knowing how to apply our newly found knowledge.
