As eclipse season creeps closer, a transformative hullabaloo ushering over us – but it has nothing to do with the upcoming eclispes. Rather, it has to do with several aspects that create what in astrology is known as a kite aspect with Mars, Uranus and Pluto forming a grand trine, Mars opposing the Saturn-Neptune conjunction and this latter is sextiling Uranus and Pluto.
A kite aspect is one of the most potent in astrology, taking the ease of the Grand trine to a focused energetic point (the opposition), which brings momentum and concentrates our intention that can be extremely transformative when activated. So, how can this Full Moon in Aquarius help us navigate this insightful time to catapult us forward?
What’s in the stars?

This Full Moon in Aquarius will be exact on Saturday the 9th of August at 9.55am CET.
The Moon will be in 17 degrees of Aquarius and, like all Full Moons, the Sun will be in opposition in 17 degrees of Leo.
There aren’t any major aspects influencing this full moon, although the energy of the kite aspect mentioned above (most importantly, the Saturn-Neptune conjunction opposing Mars) will definitely be apparent.

What’s the vibe?
Aquarius is known for its innovative thinking, authenticity, community, humanitarianism, rationality and detached intellectuality. To me, Aquarius understands the traditions and conventionalism of Capricorn but bridges us between what we know and have been taught to a futuristic or progressive mindset. If you’ve got friends with Aquarius placements, you may have certain conversations that make you think they come from another century. Despite Aquarius being an Air sign and having a naturally sharp mind, they are also exceptionally spontaneous and quirky – comfortable in its odd skin, but there is no desire to be in the lime light.

Moreover, Aquarius is the sign that defends the underdog and is infamously known as the activist of the zodiac – its rebellious need to take down social structures that don’t cover the needs to cater the greater good is perhaps the biggest drive for Aquarius.
On the other hand, Aquarius’ sister sign, Leo, is the performer and the expressionist of the zodiac signs. No fear to speak its mind in a confident and convincing manner with its childlike, creative energy. Leo is exceptionally generous and is known for its noble heart.
Saturn-Neptune opposing Mars

When taking the Neptune-Saturn conjunction in opposition to Mars into account, there is also an influential energy that hinders our motivation. The Neptune-Saturn conjunction was very influential this last New Moon in Leo (you can read about it here.)
It’s a moment to question what is a concrete belief or an illusion when it comes to the long-term foundations we want to take action towards. We’re invited to ask ourselves what we’re chasing and if it is aligned with our purpose or is it simply a projection of an unattainable fantasy.

So…?
This Full Moon is a call to find balance between individual and the collective, activating a change of point of view to think about the bigger picture when it comes to our actions and feelings. It also encourages us to take on more of an Aquarian mentality to our inner and outer world with a visionary and detached way of perceiving life whilst also staying rooted in Leo’s noble heart and leadership.

Suggestions for this Full Moon in Aquarius
1. You & the Collective
A good way to show up for this Full Moon is to reflect on what habits and dynamics you ought to release to show up for others and yourself as best as possible.
- Are you draining yourself with a busy but unfulfilling social life? Or are you regrettably not making time for the people and/or community you love and appreciate?
- Are you neglecting your needs or are you giving yourself time and space to focus on yourself?

Acknowledge and release any dynamics that aren’t being favourable to you or others by writing them down, vowing to yourself to break those ways of interacting.
2. Set the Record Straight
Taking into account the Saturn-Neptune conjunction and its Mars’ opposition, take a moment to reflect on what you’re aspiring to do or be in this present moment. What direction are you wanting to take in life, what are you trying to materialise… What are you envisioning?
Use Leo’s self-expression to write or create something that can illustrate your authentic wants, needs, desires and your perception of your soul’s purpose and ask yourself if it is aligned with the direction you’re fighting to take in life now.
BONUS POINTS: question whether or not your social dynamics as well as your own relationship to yourself are catering to this vision. Be authentic and transparent with yourself, give yourself that Leo self-love but also the detached, clear-visioned Aquarius perspective on it.
3. Candle Meditation (Trataka Sadhana)

As Leo is a fire sign and Aquarius is perhaps one of the most pensive signs of the zodiac, here’s a ritual that encompasses inner strength and cultivates a focused mind – something that can help with this Full Moon’s energy with the potent kite aspect.
RITUAL:
1. Prepare a calm and relaxed space where you can meditate and make sure you won’t be disturbed. If you want, you can dim the lights in your room to set the mood.
2. Place the lit candle on a stable surface and sit about half a metre away from it, making sure that the candle is at your eye level.
3. Bring your gaze to the flame and focus on the subtle movements and changes it has (how it curves, lengthens, flickers…). While you gaze at the flame, take long, deep breaths.
4. Allow your mind to focus only on the flame and use it as an anchor for when you notice your thoughts are carrying you away.
5. After five minutes, close your eyes and allow the vivid image of the flame to continue to take form despite your eyes not being open. Continue to breathe deeply and concentrate on maintaining the image.
6. After a while, slowly open your eyes while breathing deeply – bringing your gaze to your surroundings to ground yourself back into the present moment.
