Marking the first lunation of 2026, this Full Moon in Cancer is not only influenced by both Venus and Mars, but it also has the nodes peaking their noses into this lunation’s energy again. This Full Moon in Cancer asks us to dig into our deep, emotional needs and recognise that our ambitions are stemmed by them.
Here’s all that you need to know for this Full Moon in Cancer.
What’s in the stars?

This Full Moon in Cancer will be exact on the 3rd of January at 10.02am CET.
The Moon will be at 12 degrees of Cancer whilst the Sun will be at 12 degrees of Capricorn. In conjunction to the Sun, there will be Venus, also at 12 degrees of Capricorn, and Mars at 14 degrees of Capricorn.
Both the Moon and the Sun are trining and sextiling the North and South Nodes at 10º Pisces and 10º Virgo, respectfully.
The Cancer-Capricorn Axis
Cancer and Capricorn are known for being the “parents” of the zodiac. Cancer is ruled by the moon, giving its transitory, emotional and intuitive nature. On the other hand, Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, giving its structural, ambitious and committed nature.
Whenever we lean into Cancer energy, we are reminded to feel instead of being too much in our heads. We’re reminded that when we flow with life’s ebbs and flows, experiencing life at the fullest instead of trying to control it. Cancer has a very motherly energy that seeks to protect those they love and will hold a grudge against anyone who hurts them or the people they care about. However, Cancer’s transitory nature can get overwhelming with the change of mood and energy.

Capricorn is the other side of the coin. Although their serious and matter-of-fact personna may intimidate and come across as cold, underneath all of that severe realism and dedication to their ambitions is the deep love and appreciation for their friends and family. Capricorn is the “daddy” energy in the zodiac because, much in contrast to Cancer’s soft love, Capricorn could be seen more of the tough love kind of vibe. They will hear you out, but they will cut you on your bullshit. They will tell you directly what they see and feel, make you feel like you’re having a business meeting slash psychiatric intervention – but it comes from the depths of their heart to want you to succeed.
The Venus-Mars Spark
Whenever Venus and Mars find each other in the sky, I always feel like there’s a noticeable spark. Both Venus and Mars are planets of desire, but they execute it differently and when they are in conjunction, that desire comes across our macro and microcosmos.

Venus is known for its values, beauty, harmony and relationships whilst Mars is the “warrior” of the zodiac, assertive and aggressive when needed. Venus represents our romantic side whilst Mars our sexual side, which also means that any time Venus and Mars are conjunct – don’t be surprised if you’re feeling more romantic and/or sexual than usual. People who have this conjunction in their charts tend to be exceptionally passionate, creative and sexual people – sometimes not for the best. Like any transit in a chart, it can be executed positively or negatively. By negatively, you’d be surprised to know how many famous “alleged” sexual predators have a Venus-Mars conjunction, Jeffrey Epstein, Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton to name a few.
However, Venus embodies the energy that inspires us, what marks what makes us tick and how we perceive beauty in our surroundings, people and within ourselves. On the other hand, Mars marks what gets us going to pursue whatever we desire. Both planets, in their essence, are exceptionally passionate and devoted.
The way to understand Venus and Mars’ connection is like the intense chemistry two people have that seem unreal. They are passionately intertwined, body, mind and soul, but as we all know, these connections can be very difficult to navigate because of the passion and desire, they tend to end as quickly as they started. However, somehow, these connections always arise when life is in a rut and inspire us to take action because of its magnetic pull that awakens our desires. They make us reflect on our life and wonder what we need to do to feel this intense feeling of being alive again. This love might burn out, but at least it sparks our inner fire again to remind us what makes us feel passionate about again.

When navigated correctly, this conjunction can get us into a proactive mood of self-assertion and cooperation to pursue our desires. It provindes us with the inspiration and the willpower to get ourselves going. Mars, our hype-am, meets Venus, the muse. It’s inevitable that we get punged into a new passionate reality bassed off creativity and devotion.
So, what’s the vibe?
This Full Moon in Cancer is inviting us to contemplate what our deepest needs and desires are. The Moon in Cancer magnifies our concept of emotional safety and nurture within, but also contemplating what structures in our lives accommodate that emotional support. Those structures are questioned by the Sun conjuncting with Venus and Mars, baring in mind the boundaries we must set in our relationships to care for ourselves and others whilst also strengthening our bonds because of our objective truth. Moreover, the Venus and Mars conjunction allows us to deepen this by contemplating what we need to feel that spark in life again and how to sustain that spark into our mundane life – be it through our relationships, our style, our pursuits… All of these contemplations are intrinsically aligned to our spiritual purpose with the influence of the North and South node, asking us to unravel our deepest truths and, with the help of Capricorn, structure them into our reality.
Suggestions for this New Moon
1. What’s the spark?
Venus and Mars are weighing heavily on this lunation, especially as we have just come into a new Gregorian year and the astrology of 2025 has really battered us down. Many of us are feeling uninspired or drained, not really knowing what path lays ahead of us nor how to navigate the reality we are currently raveled by. So, using the spark of Venus and Mars, ask yourself…
- What makes you tick?
- What has been nurturing that passionate spark of yours lately that feels like the source that just keeps giving, even if it isn’t around all the time?
- How can you try to keep that spark alive, in a realistic way (Capricorn tough love here)?
- How can we make our lives align to what we want?
2. Make space for that spark
A spark in itself is just a spark, but when you put it in the right environment… It can blaze a fire. Now, we don’t want too much of a fire but maybe just enough to get us through the astrology of 2026 would be nice (lol).
Like all Full Moons, it is a brilliant occasion to manifest what you need to let go of – it’s spiritual hygiene if you wish. It’s great to be making vision boards and setting ourselves these fantastic new year’s resolutions, but if we don’t consciously clear out what we don’t need in our lives… We essentially become spiritual and energetic hoarders.
The Venus-Mars spark has us thinking about the passionate life we idealise and wish for… So what makes our life dull and boring that we no longer want? What makes us feel emotionally unfulfilled or unsafe?

List everything you need to leave in 2025. If you’re uncertain of where you’re heading, at least make space for whatever is to come.
3. Shower Ritual

Now, this is one of my favourites and it can actually be exceptionally therapeutic. Once you’ve written down all of the things, get yourself in the shower – Cancer is a water sign, water purifies and flows.
Whilst you shower, close your eyes and remember everything you want to let go of… Imagining that the energy of each thing is being carried off your body down the drain, cleansing you energetically and spiritually.
