Marking the first Full Moon of this brand new Gregorian year, we find ourselves with a rather contrary energy to the stereotypical new-year’s resolutions social norm. This Full Moon in Cancer is demanding us to open our hearts, to remind ourselves of what truly fills our cup and what really gets us going.
So, it isn’t as much as what we want this 2025 but perhaps what we already have and just need to enrichen it.
What’s in the stars?

This Full Moon in Cancer 2025 will take place on Monday 13th 23.26h CET.
The Moon is in 24 degrees of Cancer in close conjunction with Mars in 27 degrees of Cancer. Like all Full Moons, the Sun is in opposition at 24 degrees of Capricorn.
We also find a strong influence of Uranus, Neptune and the Nodes in this lunation. Both Neptune and the North Node are in a close conjunction in 27 and 29 degrees of Pisces respectively, making a sextile to the Sun and a trine to the Moon. On the other hand, we have Uranus in 23 degrees of Taurus, forming a sextile with the Moon and a trine with the Sun.

What’s the vibe?
The Parents of the Zodiac
Capricorn and Cancer are known as the father and mother archetypes in astrology. Capricorn represents limits, authority, ambition and long-term commitments whilst Cancer represents protection, intuition, emotion and the subconscious.
However, both Capricorn and Cancer do have something in common: stability. However, unlike Capricorn’s hardworking ambition for stability, Cancer is the protective and nurturing stability that is associated with our home. Together, the cardinal signs fuse their Earth and Water qualities to create a vivid and emotional reality.
Capricorn season can be heavy on many of us, acknowledging our limits can be a tough pill to swallow and Capricorn season does have the tendency cause the winter blues. However, this Full Moon in Cancer is anything but promising with the influence of Mars, Uranus, Neptune and the Nodes.
Mars in Cancer
Mars, the planet of action, aggression and initiative, is considered to be in a “debilitated” state in Cancer – but I beg to differ. I think that Mars is simply taken off guard because its proactiveness is not left to the physical, but rather to the intuitive – because Cancer can be a gran fighter when it comes to protecting what it cares most about.
Therefore, Mars’ conjunction to the Moon in Cancer, in its domicile, is in fact a major impulse for all of us to be connected to our hearts and intuition in order to be proactive in our physical reality. I would add that the strong influence of Mars on this Full Moon in Cancer may amplify feelings of anger, frustration or irritation, but it can also be powerful for re-evaluating our priorities and strategies.

Uranus and Neptune
Uranus is the planet of revolutionary enlightenment whilst Neptune is the planet of inspiration, faith and the subconscious. As both planets are aspecting the Sun, Moon and Mars, it goes without saying that their energies influence this Full Moon in Cancer with an impulse towards action, combining it with idealism and fighting to exalt our authentic selves.
Both planets will bring about new perspectives and pathways, as well as unexpected creative outbursts, but we must be cautious not to fall for Neptune’s illusion, harnessing Capricorn’s energy to keep thinking on our feet.
Destiny & Karma

On the 11th of January, the nodes have officially transitioned into new signs for the next 18 months – from the Aries-Libra to the Pisces-Virgo axis. Those of you with their North Node in Pisces will be experiencing their nodal return whilst those with the North Node in Virgo will be in their nodal opposition.
This marks a transition for the collective as the Nodes are associated with our destiny and karma, particularly associated with our creativity, heightened intuition, spirituality and idealism along with our health, efficiency and practicality. In other words, the tarot cards that would best describe this time would be The Magician and the High Priestess.

So…?
To sum up, this Full Moon in Cancer is fuelled with energy that is asking us to nurture and revitalise our current lives by connecting with what authentically and unapologetically makes us happy. By connecting deeply with what makes our hearts content, we allow ourselves to fuel our day-to-day with this boost of optimism for our normal lives, living it, embracing it but also guarding that reality as that reality is the “nest”, the stability that allows us to go through life no matter the ups and downs.

Suggestions for this Full Moon in Cancer
1. Forget New Year’s Resolutions
Now, although it may go against tradition, this Full Moon does not demand new energy to be presented to our lives but rather to purge what no longer serves us. Think deeply about all of those emotions, actions or thoughts that don’t contribute to this excitement of wanting to get up and live another day or simply don’t resonate with the kind of stability, “home” or inner “sanctuary” you’re trying to solidify for yourself.
2. Freeze & Forget
A way to purge these things that no longer serve this emotional and physical stability you’re after is by writing them all down on a list.
Take a piece of paper and cut it into small pieces. Write all of that you wish to let go of or to purge that no longer serves you, put it in a container with some laurel or eucalyptus leaves for protection, maybe ginger for a bit of healing and renewal. Add water and put in the freezer.
