As summer finally comes to a close, Virgo season ushers us back into routine, structure and encourages us to make sense of all of the chaos summer has brought about to create a meticulous plan for the year.
Personally, I’ve always considered Virgo the true beginning of the astrological year for its “filtering” nature. It coincides with the beginning of the annual harvest of all that we have grown and achieved during the year. It is the time when we appreciate what goals we have reached, reap its benefits and prepare for a long, cold winter of focusing on nurturing the soil for next year’s yield. We’re also preparing for our days to get darker, inviting us to look inward rather than outward – asking us to do a big of soul nourishing, too.
What’s in the stars?

When it comes to aspects, this moon doesn’t necessarily have many but that does not mean this New Moon in Virgo will be any less potent.
Both the Sun and the Moon will be in 11º Virgo and will be in close opposition to big Daddy Saturn, which will be at 16º Pisces.
New Moon Before Eclipse Season
This New Moon in Virgo is the last new moon we can manifest before eclipse season. During eclipse season, the moon is moving abnormally from the Earth’s point of view, which means that its energy is also not the usual. That’s why in spiritual practice, we don’t manifest during eclipse season because the energy is unpredictable.
Whatismore, this is the last new moon in Virgo before eclipse season changes its axis from Aries-Libra to Virgo-Pisces, which will mark the beginning of a new 1.5 year narrative and will be particularly significant for people born in 1997 and 1998, as they will be having their nodal return.
Speaking briefly, our nodal return is kind of like our pre-Saturn return energy as the nodes have everything to do with our destiny, purpose and karma – so for those of you with your North and South Node in Pisces and Virgo, you’re in for a ride.

Beyond that, we have the influence of Saturn this lunation. Saturn is known for its authorative energy, highlighting the importance of structure, ambition, limits and long-term dedication.

What’s the vibe?
As this lunation harnesses that Saturnian energy and new moons have the innate power to manifest our intentions, this New Moon in Virgo is exceptionally powerful for manifesting the major long-term change that you want to welcome into your life.
The tone of the last lunation in Leo Season, the Full Moon in Aquarius on the 19th of August, was HEAVILY influenced by Uranus and it truly broke the mould for us to see life beyond our reality, no doubt adding to the major mental shifts and life changing events so many people have experienced during August’s intense transits.
As Saturn symbolises structure and determination, this new moon provides the building blocks for creating the infrastructure for this brand new reality. Tonight’s manifestations will simply be the blueprint for the universe, which will then gradually build up and eclipse season will do its unpredictable magic to it, perhaps presenting unexpected opportunities or situations that are aligned with these intentions you set before the eclipse.
This lunation is a chance to take that powerful transformative energy and create a new physical reality for us.

Suggestions for this New Moon in Virgo

1. Reflect on your intentions
As mentioned before, the Full Moon in Aquarius offered us a groundbreaking new perspective on our lives and the way ahead. Take a moment to reflect on its breakthrough, listing the thoughts and ideas that have to do with this massive change that you envisioned.
2. Write a letter FROM your future self.
Now that you have reflected on these intentions that spark the fire of your new reality, write a letter from your future self explaining how your future life is that reflects this huge change. When you write this letter, your skeptical self might kick in or you might feel silly for imagining such a life. Ignore that voice and write with FEELING. Write the letter that FEELS like the reality you want and fill your words with absolute truth, envisioning the reality you are writing about and embracing it as a fact.
3. Light A Candle For Two Weeks
Now that you have written this letter on paper, fold it up and put it under a candle – preferably a white candle. You can lay your letter and candle on your bedside table or on your altar if you have one, whatever you prefer, but make sure that its a space that will go undisturbed and where no one will read it for your own privacy.
Over the next two weeks, read the letter before bed (bonus points if you read it when you wake up, too!) and light the candle after, letting it burn for an hour or so. If you can, let it burn for quite a while each day. Before the Full Moon in Pisces, take the letter and keep it in a drawer – marking the date of this lunation so in a year and a half you can read it again and see how your reality has unravelled!
